Automatization and efficiency
Produce IT smarter and at a lower cost
Today´s companies and authorities are under great pressure to innovate to get ahead of their competitors. The challenge for the CIO is to provide that necessary innovation support to the business with an IT budget that is not increasing.
Research shows that in general three-quarters of the IT budgets goes to IT operations (production IT). Only one quarter goes to digital innovation or transformation. This is far too low for innovating companies. The share of innovation-IT should rather be close to the double.
For successful digitalization, the CIO should reduce the share of production IT through supplier management, harness the industrialization of IT, increase the share of cloud services and work purposefully with streamlining. The space made will be allocated for digital innovation, focusing on business development, processes and flows. Not easy, but with the right support and control it is completely realistic.
